Jonathan Wong

Jonathan Wong

Jonathan Wong was born in the United States; Jonathan's musical journey began at the tender age of 6 when he started playing the piano and violin. His passion for the arts expanded into dance during his high school years at Milton Academy, setting the stage for a diverse and dynamic career in the performing arts.

Jonathan's academic pursuits led him to Cornell University, where he double-majored in Psychology and Dance. His time at Cornell was marked by his involvement in the Cornell University Glee Club and his role as music director and arranger for "Last Call," the university's premiere all-male a cappella group. His contributions to "Last Call" garnered the group numerous national and international awards, and his exceptional talent in dance earned him the 2008 Cornell Undergraduate Artist Award.

In 2009, Jonathan ventured into the Hong Kong music industry, releasing multiple albums in Cantonese, Mandarin, and Japanese, which propelled him to stardom with over 50 music awards in various categories. His groundbreaking work continued as he joined Avex Group in 2010, becoming the first international artist developed by both the domestic and international departments of this top music label in Japan.

Jonathan's versatility extends beyond music into television, where he has been a popular host of the "Big Boys Club" since 2011. His talents also shine in composition and performance, as demonstrated at the "The Intimacy of Creativity" concert at HKUST in 2012, and his successful solo concerts at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre the same year.

An accomplished actor as well, Jonathan has taken on diverse roles in TV dramas and films, earning critical acclaim and nominations for his performances. Notably, his portrayal of a gifted musician in "Limelight Years" garnered him a "Best Supporting Actor in a Television Drama" nomination, and his role in Johnnie To's "Three" received high praise from local and international critics.

Jonathan's impact on the music world was further solidified in 2016 when he joined the "Sing My Song" competition and composed the hit song "Beyond Borders" for Karen Mok, showcasing his songwriting prowess.

As Jonathan Wong joins Music Traveler, we celebrate his multifaceted talent and his contributions to music, dance, and acting. His diverse background and achievements make him an invaluable addition to our community, and we look forward to the inspiration and creativity he brings as an Ambassador.
